The hit reality competition show Shark Tank made armchair entrepreneurs out of all of us when it first cut its teeth on television in August 2009.

The series is now in the middle of its 12th season, and Shark Tank Sharks Mark Cuban, Kevin O’Leary, Lori Greiner, Daymond John, Robert Herjavec, and Barbara Corcoran are just as sharp as ever when it comes to separating the entrepreneurs from the want-repreneurs. This season also features two returning guest Sharks, former baseball star Alex Rodriguez and Kind founder Daniel Lubetzky, as well as two new guest Sharks, TOMS Shoes founder Blake Mycoskie and jewelry entrepreneur Kendra Scott.

While all of the Sharks are brilliant in their own ways, each one brings a very different perspective on business to the table (or the Eames chair, as it were). For example, Mark is a fan of saying, "Follow the green, not the dream," while Robert swears by his philosophy that: "If you’re emotional and you’re great at something, the money will follow."

No matter which Shark you're rooting for, it can't hurt to learn a little bit about their business backgrounds, investments, and more. Here's everything you need to know about the Shark Tank cast and how they made their millions (or billions!).

Fellow Shark Barbara coined his nickname during the first season when she sarcastically said, "Well, aren't you Mr. Wonderful?" But Kevin says his signature harsh demeanor on the show is rooted in good intentions. "If they can't take a guy like me, then they're not ready," he says.
